Booyah!! That’s how I felt after reading this interview. Introducing Jason Dundas. A man that knows what he wants and has it, knows who is and is being it and isn’t wasting any time living his life.

Jason doesn’t hold back in his interview, he shares honestly about how he feels about his life and who he is.

You may all know him from the popular travel show Getaway, but this guy has been on the move. I meet Jason some years ago now and its been cool to watch him smash it through life to experience more and more of what he loves.

Jason came from humble beginnings and is a self made man. His interview has some very simple and powerful points that I hope inspire you to simply be limitless!

Jason Dundas

Who Is Jason?

Australian-born Jason first gained recognition when, at the age of 21, he won a coveted audition to be the local face of the world’s biggest music brand, MTV. Jason hosted its flagship show TRL Live, co-hosted the MTV Awards, and got up close and personal with music legends such as Beyoncé, Usher, and Ozzy Osbourne.

Jason also developed and co-produced the high-impact MTV Sports series, and as the creator of his own graphic design company, he designed the studio set for TRL Live, along with the official TRL logo and corporate identity.

Just three years later, Jason became the host of Australia’s most successful travel and lifestyle show, Getaway, which gave him the opportunity to travel the globe in search of communities, characters and culture. Jason served as a co-producer on several Getaway stories, and after spending 5 years on the show, travelling to over 40 countries across six continents, Jason re-located to the United States to further his career.

With over a decade’s experience on camera, fronting high profile productions from America to Australia, 31 year-old Jason Dundas’ career is one big adventure, and it’s no surprise then that he’s not only been signed on to host MTV America’s brand new prime time program Beyond Dance, but on the other side of the planet, Jason is undertaking yet another challenge, hosting the aptly named reality-adventure series, The Big Adventure (Channel 7).

This achievement marks the first time a personality from Down Under has hosted an American and an Australian production simultaneously.

Jason also finds time to run his own production company Dundas Media, a creative collective devoted to producing compelling video content for every media platform, and he is a long-term Menswear Brand Ambassador for retail giant David Jones.

Jason’s interview

What does limitless living mean for you?

It means having the drive and determination to turn my dreams into reality.

What has been your biggest challenge in life where you were faced with limitation in some way? What supported you to move through it?

Growing up I was always distracted at school, and regularly would finish in the bottom of my class. I repeated year 3. I found it impossible to focus, and for a long time I was convenience that I was just a dreamer and nothing I imagined in my mind would actually ever happen. However, the older I got there was this constant itch inside of me that wouldn’t let me say no, it wouldn’t let me give up.

This itch made me go against the grain of everything I had been taught growing up, and at around the age of 19 I entered a competition on MTV to become at TV host, and to my surprise I won. That moment changed my life forever.

How often do you follow your intuition/gut feel in life? Why?

When it comes to dealing with people I listen to my intuition/gut 100% of the time, but when it comes to a business decision it’s all about research. I am a big believer in doing my homework. I always make sure that I know more about what I’m trying to do than anyone else in the room. With knowledge comes confidence, with confidence you can do anything in this world.

So what is it that you absolutely love to do in life? Can you describe how you feel and the space you’re in when you are doing it?

I love to create moments that stimulate emotion. Whether it’s hosting a TV show navigating the raw emotion of a person you’re interviewing, or using the camera to evoke a feeling with viewers. Adding music to video is one of my favorite things to do in the whole world. It sounds like nothing, but when I fit the right song under the perfect edit it affects me. I feel the music go right through me. When it’s perfect I often have a little cry : )

What age would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

Firstly I believe in viewing the world as a child. Children see the world for the first time everyday, with complete honesty. I always try to take in the smell of a place, feel the air, and breath it all in so I can be as present as possible.

Secondly I think traveling is an experience that gives you wisdom and an understating of your place in the world. I was lucky enough to travel through 100 plus countries with the TV show Getaway, an experience that has shaped the person I am today. I would say I’m at the age where I can achieve anything I can dream!

What does living from your heart mean to you and do you find it easy to express how you feel?

I inherited my mother’s sensitive side, so I am very open about my feelings. My family is all very open, every Sunday we each send a group email explaining our previous week and expressing our feelings.

What do you love most about yourself?

I love the fact that I can give 100% to something to try and achieve a goal, but at the same time I understand my limitations.

What’s the biggest lie you once believed was true?

I used to believe that you had to be born with a gift to do a certain thing. Everyone on this earth is capable of doing anything they want, it’s the whether or not you have the mental drive to get there.

If you knew that no body would judge you, what would you do differently?

Nothing, I do exactly what I want everyday.

So lets say in this moment you are totally limitless. What would you love to do next?

I am limitless, we all are. I would love to stay healthy and keep creating.
