I was so stoked to be able to kick of this series with an incredible woman, meet Lola Berry!

She packs a punch full of authentic, real and inspiring power which leaves you feeling what it’s like to meet someone who is totally being themselves. Its refreshing and something I value in having met her. Enough from me though, here is a little about Lola and her answers to questions that I hope will support you in living limitlessly.

Colourful, adventurous and with a healthy dose of Aussie eccentricity, Lola Berry is definitely not your average nutritionist. She blogs, tweets, writes and talks about good health and whole food, and whether she’s eating a banana plucked from a New York City garbage bag or handing out black-eyed peas to celebs at a red carpet event, there’s little Lola won’t to do to get her message across: eating and living well is easy and fun!

Lola’s enthusiasm is contagious and her knack for translating the most technical information into easy-to-follow advice has made her one of Australia’s most popular nutritionists. She is constantly finding creative ways to help people make small achievable changes in their lives in order to better their health. Her September 2012 release, The 20/20 Diet, guides readers through a 20-week process that Lola promises will help them reap major health benefits. The 20/20 Diet became the number one diet book in Australia within weeks of its release.

Lola grew up in a family where health and fitness were celebrated, but by no means a focal point. It wasn’t until experiencing her first ‘summertime detox’ as a teenager that Lola recognised what a huge impact food had on health and wellbeing. That detox opened the door to a lifelong passion, and within a few years Lola had completed her Bachelor of Health Science with a major in Nutritional Medicine at Endeavour College of Natural Health. Armed with enthusiasm and tonnes of ideas, Lola made it her mission to help as many people as possible live a healthy, fulfilled life.

In 2007, Lola began posting videos full of health tips, nutritional advice and easy, accessible recipes. People responded to her quirky approach and her ‘Fruits and Roots’ webisodes soon led to regular spots as a guest nutritionist on Channel Ten’s ‘The Circle’ show and her first book deal for, Lola Berry’s Inspiring Ingredients. Lola kept up with her engaging blog and informative e-newsletters and her online following continued to grow. Today, Lola is a regular guest on TV shows such as ‘The Project’, MIX fm’s nationally broadcast ‘Body and Soul’ radio show and a contributor to numerous magazines and newspapers. In 2012, Lola hosted the Woolworths Macro Theatre at Australia’s world-class Good Food and Wine Show.

Lola was based in Melbourne, where she ran her own nutrition clinic and taught yoga. She’s now based in Sydney and the release of her third book The 20/20 Diet Cookbook which has now gone into reprint is full of recipes and healthy creations!

Keep up to date with her at www.lolaberry.com and follow her on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

  1. What does limitless living mean for you?

–        It means being real. It’s that simple drop the bullshit and just be you.

  1. What has been your biggest challenge in life where you were faced with limitation in some way? How did you move through it?

–       I think we face these things all the time, for me having an eating disorder and working in media was a hard one and if I’m honest it’s something I work on all the time.

–       I am never afraid to ask for help and that’s key, I get as much help as I can, both from mates and professionals

–       Being a high achiever I’m naturally very hard on myself so it’s great to have sounding boards which hold me accountable and ground me when things get out of balance.

  1. How often do you follow your intuition/gut feel in life?

–       I feel and can sense my intuition all the time

–       I follow it most of the time and the only time I don’t follow it is when I’m not being the best version of myself.

–       So I’d love to sit here and say all day, everyday but that’s not true, I slip and see my intuition showing me something and then I’ll look the other way.

–       One day it would be so ace to live in this space all the time, but I’m learning to trust it more and more, it’s a nice place to be in.

  1. What has been the most supportive practice you found to which has helped you through times when life felt limited?

–       Trusting myself

–       Doing yoga, I’m a yoga nerd and it helps me to face challenges and let go on unnecessary drama.

  1. How important has it been for you in working on yourself? Did you or do you have a mentor?

–       A mentor for me is just to see someone living their passion and being true to themselves, so yes in that sense you could say I’ve had heaps of mentors

–       I’ve always looked up to Steve Irwin, he’s passionate, so real and believes in himself. Any doco I watch of his is like watching magic!

  1. So lets say in this moment you are totally limitless, free and happy. What would you love to do next?

–       I love living the dream and have learnt to trust the journey, of course I’ve got some pretty epic dreams like to live in a tree house and film inspiring things        all over the world but I and trusting that things will unfold exactly as they are meant to!

–       All I focus on is being real and coming from the heart!

I loved this interview because as you can see and feel, Lola is so real. I’m going to be bringing you someone I have found inspiring, insightful and just plain awesome each week. Having people like this around along my own journey has been crucial. It has speed up my journey as I found that from seeing whats possible in others, it supported me to realise what I was searching for within myself. So I’m excited to share these upcoming amazing souls with you.
