Its Simple…if you don’t Forget…

We all go through ups and downs in our lives. We encounter life changes. Just when we thought it was all going one way, it swings about and heads the other.

Sometimes, this leaves us feeling freaked out. It leaves us trying to work it out so we can feel safe about the new path ahead. The part of us that needs to work this out is our ego.

Your ego wants you to buy into life. It wants you to get tangled in the web of your circumstances and the thinking that comes with it. Why? The answer is simple: Then and there, your ego has succeeded in separating you from this present moment. It has placed power in your identity, your story, so that it exists.

I love it when life changes up on me and I notice that I forget. Why would I love this? In that moment, I have given myself an opportunity to reclaim power from my circumstances. I have just witnessed a part of myself that I had separated from. In that moment, I have been given the gift of embracing that part of me with all my heart.

It may hurt. It may be painful. But, I always know that, as I move through it, I will find my true self. I find that space beyond the thoughts that are trying to work out life.

In that space, I feel at home. I am then present and know that who I truly am is so much bigger than any circumstance. I then allow myself to feel and move, moment by moment, with the love that is my dance in this experience I call life.

So, next time you forget, next time you find yourself bruised, battered, and consumed by life: STOP.

Breathe. Find your feet. In that moment, you will feel a peace amongst the pain. You will know that there is more to you than that which you think you are.
